“On the grounds of Slane castle are the ruins of...”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)is visited every year, by pilgrims, on the 15th of August. This well is dry all the year round, but it mysteriously fills up on the eve of 15th August.
The Cunningham's - owners of Slane Castle - tried to convert the ruins into a dog kennel, but the Parish priest of Slane told them not to interfere with it. They still continued, and for some time after that their calves were born with six legs or two heads or something amiss.
At last, the Cunninghams left the ruins alone.
Beside these ruins is a great stone with the images of the twelve apostles on it. Bits of this stone used to be taken by the pilgrims as souvenirs and at last it had to be walled in, to preserve it.
The Cunninghams had it removed to the Hill of Slane and it was back the next morning, in the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
