Many hundred years ago there was a well at the foot of the hill...

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
at the foot of the hill of Balgathern. At that time the people all around the place were butchers. One evening an old woman washed the entrails of a beast in it, and the next morning the well was gone. The neighbours did not know what happened until a man, who was out late that night, told them he saw it shift, and that it was all lighted up with candles. The neighbours went to search, and they found it about a mile from the spot where it originally was, and from that day to this it is called "Tobar na Solus".

There is a large stone at a place near Drogheda...

There is a large stone at a place near Drogheda and it is said that St Patrick knelt on it, as the prints of his elbows, his knees and his staff are imprinted on it ever since. There are two cottages near it and when the men were building them, the stone was in their way so they moved it over to the other side of the road. The next morning it was back in its former position. They decided to leave it there and the stone is still there
