    was called the "cold fair of Collon."
    After a time the fair was held on the last Friday of every month.
    The fair was held at a place now called Market Square in Collon.
    When the bargain was made the buyer gave the owner a slap on the open palm. Then the former owner gave him some money back which was called the "luck penny."

  2. Over forty years ago big fairs were held in Collon, but they have died out. The first fair of the year was held on new year's day, one on St Patrick's Day, one on twenty ninth of June, on twentieth of October and the last fair of the year, known as the "cold fair of Collon" was held on
