  1. There are many local songs which people used to say long ago. There is a song in the district which a man composed long ago. The name of the man who composed it was Mr Brodigan.
    The Shamrock shore is the place I adore,
    And the green shady groves of Shillalaye
    Its now I begin to prase,
    The Shamrock our good ship is sailing
    In May 61 our voyage begun,
    I shall ever remember the morning.
    The weather was fine, and we had a fare wind.
    And she sailed with proud Phealus dawning.
    We took our departure from Cardross pier
    For Calais in France our course to steer.
    Like an arrow she darted from all that
