    buttemilk when they had potatoes alone for dinner. They also drank sweetmilk.
    They sat in the centre of the floor in a circle and on the floor was a big basket of potoatoes and they used all to eat out of this.
    Oaten bread was eaten often. It was made the same way as other bread only it was rolled out as thin as a biscuit. They also made bread called 'boxty bread' This when made was all lumpy. It used to swell up on the pan.
    They also made a food called "sourens". This is how to make it. Put some boiling water into a crock and put the seeds of oaten meal in it and let it steep for four or five days until it is sour and then boil it up again and drink it. It was the same colour as rice.
    On Halloween they always had champ or porridge. On Christmas Day a Christmas pudding. They also ate eggs on Easter Sunday.
    Tea first came to Omeath over seventy years ago. They only got a 1/2 oz
