(continued from previous page)The next night the coachman came with the same story that he was in love with her, and gave her five pounds on a promise that she would marry him. Again she told him that she forgot to close the hall door. "Stay where you are, and I will do that for you," said the coachman." She took out the raven's feather and prayed that a pair of horns might grow out of his head and hold him there until morning. When morning came she prayed to the raven's feather that that fellow may go about his business and not mind her.
The next day she was spreading out the laundry, and the butler and coachman were under the hedge with two sticks to beat her for taking their money. She took out the raven's feather and prayed that the butler and coachman may beat each other while they would be able.
