In the vieinity of Carrig there is a Mass Rock.

In the vicinity of Carrig there is a Mass Rock. There is a bush growing above the rock called the Priest's Bush. This is in the middle of Sharrah Bog. It is surround by firs and bushes. A remarkable thing happened one year when the bog went on fire. It happened that the fire burned all the heath and when it came to the first and bushes it quenched.
This rock was used as an altar during the Penal Days when the Priest's were compelled to celebrate Mass in the bogs.
Told to me by Patrick Moran age 70, Carrig, Birr.
