    Poor Claffey Ryan was a sensible man
    until he picked up with the corner boy clan
    There was Neaton and Wrafter and Bunker the Swell
    They were gambling all night in Claffey's Hotel
    Some playing cards and more drinking beer and Davises clerk calling out for his dear.
    All in a moment there was a noise at the door
    In walked Sergeant Jonson and he wagging his cane.
    Neaton ran this way and Wrafter ran that
    And Davises clerk lost his new Sunday hat
    He took out his note-book and said what is your name
