    Some years ago there lived in this locality a young man who had a craze for gambling.

    very late. John sit down and have a game of cards before you go. John said "no it is too late", but the man persuaded him to play. So he said he would have just one game. When the cards were being dealt one fell to the ground and John stooped to pick it up. When he did he saw the man had a cloven foot. He jumped up terrified and raced home. He never played a card to stopped out late again.
