When calling the pigs we say "Murt, "Murt" the calves "Suck Suck" the goats "Gen Gen" the the geese "Baddy Baddy" the ducks Feena Feena the hens "chuck chuck" the cat "Sibby Sibby". The luckiest time for hatching eggs if in the Spring time. It is considered unlucky if the hens are hatching and rising of the eggs. My mother would not sell or give a a setting of eggs while the birds are hatching. Sometimes our ducks hatch out in the ditch or under a fence and these young ducks are always very hardy.
