    eviction on most of the peasants. At last he decided to come and evict the tenants by force, but the news got out, and many people of the neighbouring districts came to the assistance of the Ballycuhey tenants, amongst them were my grandfather, Jim Connolly. Scully came with him men and laid siege to one of the houses, where most of the defenders were, and a battle royal began. Many of the defenders were armed with blunderbusses, but of course the attachers had the best of wooden weapons. Scully was dressed in a suit of chain armour on one occasion, he was struck with a charge from my grandfather's blunderbuss which i believe was a chage of bolts and pieces of iron, but of course, the
