    We march out every morning no light there doth shine
    Except from New Pallas or the Great Railway line
    We face Mickie Connell's and on through the mash
    And straight for the Colbert we will make a dash
    When we land at the tool box, all the men they are there
    Discussing the work on the river Mulcaire

    At a quarter to eight, the foreman arrives
    And the first thing he says is "Good morning now, boys "
    "Get the tool box now open, to the nipper he says
    Some men for a shovel, and more for a spade
    The time is now up and away ye may go
    And straighten the banks where the Mulcaire river flows
