  1. (no title) (continued)

Once upon a time when pigs were swine and swallows built their nests in old men's beards there was a giant called a cyclop living in a cave.

    (continued from previous page)
happened that Jack had a ring which the giant had given him a while before that. Everytime the giant called upon this ring it answered him and everywhere that Jack ran the giant would know where he was by means of this ring. Jack knew that he'd never escape the giant while he had this ring on his finger. It happened that Jack had a pen-knife in his pocket so he only drew it out and cut off the finger in which the ring was and he threw finger and ring out into the sea and now Jack was free. The giant was still calling upon this ring and every time he called upon it seemed far off. The next time he called it answered from the sea and the giant followed the voice into the sea and was drowned.
