    One time an old soldier came home saying "left, right" until he met an old witch.

    One time an old soldier came home saying "left, right" until he met an old witch. She was a horrible looking creature.
    "Good evening, soldier," she said, "You are a nice man and I will give you as much money as you wish. "Do you see that large tree,"? said she pointing to a tree that grew by the wayside.
    "Well climb up to the top and you will see a hole large enough to creep down. I will tie a rope around you so that I can pull you up again when you call me."
