  1. Oh, gentle Bard, whose spotless spirit soared
From halls to grander mansions with the Lord
We welcome sadly thy frail relics here,
And shed, on thy fresh tomb, a silent tear
The time is meet for thy chosen grave
As wild flowers soon o'er thy breast shall wave

In days to come, when kindred genius seeks
Thy place of rest, with pride Askeaton speaks
And points with reverent finger to thy shrine
That holds the noblest of the noble line
The place is meet, by the moaning Deel
Where waters caoin thee, as tho' they feel
