    There is an old custom in this part of the country, of "roping" the newly married couple. The "ropers" hold a big rope across the church gate, when the party are coming out of the church, and they have to pay some money before being allowed to pass out
    The carriage or motor car in which the married couple leave for home, has usually a worn old boot tied on behind for luck.
