  1. There are four forts in this district. Carrolls' fort in Kilteery, Clancy's' in Lisready, Walshes' fort in Tinakilla, O'Connors' fort in Flean.
    In this locality the people call them forts but in other places in Ireland similar constructions are called by the following names:- Dun and Lios. These forts are circular and have only one circular trench around them. The mound in the centre has a ring of briars and bushes all round and the centre is flat and bare.
