  1. (continued from previous page)
They shine on green graves where cold hearts now slumber
Whose laugh rang with mine in quite harmless joy
Where we strayed long ago by the banks of Blackwater
Or roamed through the deep-wood and vales round Fermoy.
    VI
Farewell dear old home but I'll not say forever,
For deep in my heart a fond hope still clings on
That some day again I may gaze on dark Corrin
And watch the moon rise o'er the hill of St John.
But glad though the hours be and joyful the meeting
Their light will be darkened by one sad alloy.
That many the dear one's who once roamed there with me,
Now sleep far away from their homes in Fermoy.
