There are two shoemakers in the district, one in Farahy and one in Kildorrery. These have kept up the trade through several generations. There were a great number of shoemakers around long ago because ready-made boots and shoes were unheard of.
Now a days there are no clogs in the place but long ago everyone was wearing them. - Many years ago the rich people used to wear boots at fifteen but the poor people never wore them. Very few children at present go bare-footed to school, and then only in the Summer.(continues on next page)
