  1. Articles of clothing worn forty years ago.
The clothing in olden days was warner and better than the clothing used at present.
The children went barefooted to school until they were 12 years of age and the boys wore petticoats. The men generally wore flannel vests during the day. They wore clogs with good warm stockings. The women wore flannel petticoats and they wore shawls on a Sunday.
At that period, the people kept a lot of sheep. They first cut off the wool and dried it. They carded and spun it then they sent it to the mill where it was manufactured into warm clothing.
The women in olden days wore long cloaks with a hood over the head, woollen stockings and perk shoes.
