  1. The games which are most frequently played by girls in the locality between the ages of nine and fifteen years are Hide-and-Seek, Swing, Ball and others. Games at variance with these are played at Christmas, such as nut-cracking, at Autumn, black-berry picking and plum-gathering.
    Younger children play simpler games such as Ring! a Ring of Roses, Kneel 'n the Carpet, Colours, Wall-Flowers, Fairies, Who will come gathering nuts in May, Blacken Toppers and others.
