  1. In this district the people have many strange customs connected with certain feast days.
    On the eve of St. Brigid's Day the people used to put out a piece of linen material and let it out during the night. There was then supposed to be a certain cure attached to it. On St. Patrick's Day people wear a sprig of shamrock. Long ago the people used to wear green ribbons and harps as well as shamrocks.
