    Dubh na donn níor bh'áíl liom 's le caillig ruadha níor crádhabh mé
    Níl aon bhean sa domhan do bhfearr liom ná an bháin chnis gan smúit,
    Go bhfuil a dlaoí folt fada, fáinneach go dtug na míle pearsa grádh dí,
    Agus cad é an fáth ná tráchtfainn ar mo Sweet Cailín Fionn.

    No black nor brown will please me, nor sorrel will not tease me
    There's no colour there to please me but the fair one that's true,
    With her curly locks, so amazing, made thousands stand outgazing
    And why shouldn't I be praising my Sweet Cailíin Fionn.

    Dá mba liom stáit úd déamar Solomon nú brághaid ab tréine ná éinne aca siúid,
    Iad siúd go léir níor mhó liom dá géire,
    d ár gcéill i gcath gruig feóirling,
    Chun bheith sínte seal liom stóírín mo Sweet Cailín Fionn.
