  2. Song of the return of the prisoners
Hurrah! for the boys of Roscommon!
Hurrah! for the sound of the drum!
The music for routing the cattle.
And making the peelers drink rum.
    II
They say there's a ghost in the barn.
That's frightening the bobbies at night.
They say its the grafter from Demane
Who need not ask the shelter for night.
    III
Nine of our boys were taken.
And to Sligo were sent under bail.
But they wont get a jury in Ireland
To convict those sons of the Gael.
    IV
As soon as our boys were acquitted,
A message was sent to Killbride,
And in less than ten minutes.
