- Houses
At the present time there are houses being built in Ireland. long ago the houses were much different to what they are now.
The houses long ago were thatched and it was wheaten straw they used mostly. There were not many houses slated.
The chimneys were made of wood. Later on they started to build them with stones alone. The stones were closely fitted together.
They kept fowl in a loft in the kitchen. They kept cows, and pigs in the kitchen also. They had a half-doors, for letting in the air, and for keeping out hens.
They burned turf and wood. - Transcription guide »You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
