  1. Song
    The Banks of Ruane Lake
Farewell Kilglass my birthplace I now must bid adieu
To all my friends and comrades, gay and kind old neighbours too,
My turn now has come at last, like some good men before.
And tomorrow at the dawn of day
    I'll leave Kilglass once more.
So now to night before I go, I'll take my staff in hand
    And visit every neighbour's house
    in this dear old townland.
I will go see both young and old me
    last farewell to take,
So a long farewell unto Kilglass
and the banks of Ruanne lake.
    2.
They say America it is both great and grand,
And when that I go there I will forget this dear old land.
But now the day will shortly come when I will prove them wrong,
And if kind fortune favours me
