    At clearing of the dawn.
    To hear the blackbird's merry song
    Around Sweet Carrigeen Bawn.
    Or view those wooded islands,
    Where some lovely flowers grow.
    And the graceful swan that glides along
    The waves at Carnadoe.

    Many a man in foreign land
    Today remembers well
    Of happy scenes in childhood days,
    Where peasants there did dwell
    E'er they were forced from their love's housese,
    By Tyrant hands lair low
    To seek another far way
    From smiling Carnadoe.
