  1. The local fairs are always held in town. Buyers sometimes transact business at farmers houses. This is still done. Fairs were held formerly which have been discontinued. There used to be a fair held at a place called Ballinafad which has been discontinued. This was done because the place was too backward. The town fair is held in the streets. Toll is paid at certain fairs known as the old fairs. When an animal is sold luck money is given. When an animal is sold the halter is detained. The great fairs locally are the October and November fairs.
