Shops were common in olden times in country places as well as in towns and villages.
Beer and whiskey shops were known to travellers as "Inns". Purchases were made at all times. Buying and selling was carried on mostly on Sundays after Mass, and this practice exists in some districts at present. Butter and eggs were also exchanged for Labour.
