  1. At the time of Our Lord's birth, when the shepherds went to adore Him, there was with them a little girl called Madeline. When she saw Jesus lying on the straw she wept for she had nothing to offer Him. But an angel appeared to her, and asked her why she wept and she replied, "Because I have nothing to offer the Infant Jesus." Then the angel took her to a place where she had never been before, and touching the ground, vanished. But, Lo! a bush sprung out of the ground
