Nearly all the birds sit three weeks on the eggs. The wren sits less and the swan five weeks.
The early appearance of the widgeon is a sign of a severe snow-storm. The came a month earlier than usual last year before the big snow-storm. The curlew is called the weather bird by some people. He cries loudly before bad weather comes. Swallows flying low is a a sign of rain.- Collector
