    Despard called on Laurence and told him to get out the horse as he was bringing him on a large journey. they travelled a long distance and at length came to a large opening in a hill where Despard halted and saying to Laurence theat he had fulfilled his threat disapeared into the abiss when Laurence woke next morning he thought it was a dream but he went to the Staple his horse was dead an interesting point in the story is that Laurence States he passed through callan on his way to Satans abode.
