  1. There were many hedge schools in certain places around the district of Newtown.
    A short distance from Newtown there is a place situated which is known as Rathculbin. In one of the fields there, a lime kiln is situated. This kiln can be seen from the road, and the present owner of that field is Mr Arthur Hutchinson. There was a hedge school in this kiln long ago. A man named O Leary thought there. He was a local man and he lived in Killiney.
    In one of Mr Gorey's fields in Kells, there was also another hedge school. This field is below Meighan's
