Mass was said in Mr Cass's barn in Newtown by a priest named Father Walsh. - The following is a list of local believes about the weather.
A makeral sky foretells us that rain is near. A red sky in the morning is also the sign of rain, and a red sky in the evening is for fine weather.
When the sun shines out very early in the morning it is the sign of rain, and when it sets late in the evening it is the sign of nice fine weather.
