  1. One night a certain man in this locality was coming from a fair in Kilkenny. When he was passing "Hunts gate" at Jerpoint, he saw a black cat on the wall. He was riding on a horse, and drove over to strike the cat. As he did so the horse ran away, and the man thought he saw the road tearing up in front of him.
    When he went home he went to bed, but when his people came into the roon in the morning he was dead.
