  1. Mr. John Maher was born in Coolmore, about two miles from the village of Ballyhale
He was a great thatcher and nearly all the people around his locality got him to thatch their houses. He was very quick, and he always used wheaten straw.
He was a great man for saving apples. All the year around he had them, and sold them to the people.
He was a very strong man, and was hardly ever sick in his whole life. Every morning he was up at six oclock and out to his work.
