  2. The old houses long ago, differed largely from the modern houses of to-day. Most of the houses were built of mud or of wood and were called huts. The larger houses consisted of one kitchen and two other rooms.
    Some were built like large washing tubs, others were built in the shape of bee-hives, but they were all thatched and white-washed twice a year
