  1. In a field owned by Mr Hill in Garravogue there once lived a man by the name of Cross. Since this man died the field has been called "Crosse's Garden". In the house where Cross lived there was a ghost like an old woman. One night Cross tore up the floor to find the ghost which used to be always thumping under the floor. The ghost was not found and so the house was knocked down. This spot remains to-day a place dreaded by passers-by in the night.
