  1. There was a widow who had a son and daughter. The son used to be out very late at night card-playing. The priest of the place was advising him not to be out late at night. One evening he went to the forge for a sock of a plough but it was not ready for him. When he was coming home he went into a house and he started card playing. It was very late when he was going home. There was an old soldier in the house and he told the boy not to go home at that hour on night but he did not do as he told him. Then the soldier told him to take a sword that he had with him. After a long time the boy agreed to take it. He was not gone far until he met the devil on the road. The two of them stated fighting. The sword that the boy had got caught in the devil's chains and the boy caught the chain and dragged the devil to his home and he called up his mother and sister and told them to light the lamp. When they saw what he had they fell in a weakness. Then the boy said "Ye are not as good a soldier as me." Then he dragged the devil to the priest's house
