    gathered in boons and went from house to house scutching.First the men stringed it for the girls to bettle it.
    It was then scutched with scutching handles like a butcher's handle.When the scutching was done there was a dance afterwards.After the dance as there was no tea the people took oaten bread and milk.There was always a "fluter"or two in the scutching boon.
