- Long ago when the Fianna were in Ireland they used to hold their races from the boat house in Ballyheigue to Fenit castle. When the races used to be over they used to come in to the warren and make a fire there, and cook their meals there.
When Cromwell was in Ireland it is said that he passed through our district, and his men tore up the bodies out of the graves and burnt them and took away the ashes that was left. - About fifty years ago a man from Randy had a field of oats, and every morning he saw that his oats was full of horses hoofs. So the next night he started up to watch his oats, and about midnight he saw all the small horses, and this man was not afraid and he threw a fist of earth at one of the horses and he struck him, and that horse did not go to the sea any more. These stories were related to me by my father.
