    The fires were made of turf. They used wood sometimes to hindle the fire.
    They made candles by melting animal fat and putting it on pieces of cloth. When they dried they were stiff and from these they got light. They used rush lights also. First of all they dried and peeled the rushes and then did the same as with the candles. The place in which the bed was placed was called the Pouch.
    The front of the chimney was built of stones and mortar. Tallow candles were made from wax and salt by melting the wax first and putting salt in.
