  1. Bread.
Boxty is made by washing potatoes in their jackets and by grating and straining them. Then they are mixed with flour and baked in a warm tree oven.
Shortbread is used at Christmas. it is made with flour and butter and castor sugar, and is baked in a baking tin placed in a an oven. In most places oatcakes are baked while standing against a iron in front of the fire. First they are mixed with oatmeal and flour and cut in the shape of a quarter of a circle and placed in an oven and placed on a hob beside the fire for a long time until they are baked hard.
