  1. Marriages take place in my district, before and after Lent and Advent.
    Nearly always people get married on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays because Fridays and Saturdays are unlucky days.
    May is an unlucky month for getting married.
    The marriage feast always takes place in the bride's house, and the bride does not go to her own home for three weeks.
    The people throw a tongs after them, and old shoes for luck, and when the people are coming back the neighbours used to have a tar-barrel burning near the bride's house.
