    foretold. When she threw the ring into the fire the master & his companions turned into thirteen hammers. They pulled out the fire with the hammers and then began to beat & batter the ashes - The ring was reduced to ashes - except one little bit. This little bit jumped out of the ashes & into a heap of wheat which was at the end of the house & then changed into a grain of corn. Now the Master & his companions changed from hammers into thirteen turkey-cocks. The turkey cocks began to eat the wheat & when they had nearly all eaten, he (the simpleton) changed from a grain of wheat into a fox & before the turkey cocks could change their shape he had snapped the heads off them. He had now nothing further to fear so he went back to live with his father & be a comfort to him in his old age.
    When his father handed him over to his Master, the Master promised to teach him trick
