    daughter safely back & willingly agreed to her marriage with her rescuer. The girl asked that the marriage should not take place for a year & a day - This was agreed to by all. She hoped & expected that Billy, the real saviour, would turn up before the end of that time.
    The fox, seeing his master lying beheaded on the ground, ordered the hare to go at once & fetch a bottle of water from a certain well. The went & returned with the bottle of water. Now the four animals set to work & with the aid of the water joined the head of their master to the body again - Billy was then as well as ever.
    Now he & his stock set off & after a year reached the same town from which Billy set out to save the Princess from the dragon. This time the town was not in mourning but beautifully decorated as if for a festival. Billy called to the same public house which he had visited just a year before. After ordering a drink for himself & food for his stock he asked the
