  1. There lived a woman in Killglass long ago, and one evening she had a pot of stirabout boiling on the fire and her husband and son were sitting at the fire. The woman began to talk in Irish and she was planning to kill her husband, and her son understood what she was saying and he told his father. The father sent for St. Patrick, and when he came he took a serpent out of the pot of stirabout and he dragged the serpent from the house to Kilglass Lake and the trail can be seen where he pulled the serpent yet.
