  1. Travelling Folk
Stephen Deary was a poor old man who travelled around from house to house. He brought nothing with him. When he came into a house he would stand on the middle of the floor an a big stick with his two hands on top of it under his chin. He would stay at night if he got lodging and sometimes stay in an old house. If you gave him a penny or two he would tumble a half a mile. He always wore two coats and three hats on top of other. The children did not like to see him coming as his big hat made him very queer looking.
