- There is one tailor in the parish of Gurteen and his name is John Tuohy. He works in his house in Mounthazel. It is usual for a tailor to sell clot. He buys it in the shop. The cloth is not woven in the district.
The people do not wear clothes of home spun cloth nowadays but they used to wear them long ago. The implements the tailors use are, the sewing machine, scissors, needles, thimble, spools and tape.
The people make shirts nowadays out of flannelette and linen. They need to weave the linen themselves. The people knit stockings. Sometimes they buy the thread in the shop and sometimes they spin the wool of the sheep into thread. There are two spinning wheels in my village. The people wear black clothes if any one belonging to them is dead.- Bailitheoir
