  1. This was so called because a person passing here at the dead hour of night was certain to see the ghost of a black pig rolling, tumbling and grunting before him on the road until he fainted. Then the spectre vanished. It is about a half a mile from the school in a hollow of the road.
    One night my grandfather was coming from Tuam. It was very late about half past one a.m. He was driving a horse and cart.
